Columbia Jaycees to Host a Blues Traveler Concert on May 19th

On Saturday, May 19th at 8 pm the Columbia Jaycee’s will host a Blues Traveler concert at the Tin Roof.

Tickets cost $24.95 each (including tax and convenience fees) when purchased online here: http://tinroofcolumbia.tunestub.com/show.cfm?id=75336.  Tickets may also be purchased in person from Tin Roof.

Columbia Jaycees to Host a Movie at the Nickelodeon Theater on May 16th

The Columbia Jaycees will be hosting an outing to the Nickelodeon Theatere on Wednesday, May 16th. The theater is located at 937 Main Street in Columbia. They will be seeing the movie “Coriolanus” at 8:00pm. Admission is $7.50 and drink specials at The Nick include buckets (4 bottles) of PBR for $6 or Yeungling for $8. Wine will also be available for purchase.

Columbia Jaycees to host Baseball Game on May 31st

The Columbia Jaycees will host a good old fashioned game of Blowfish baseball at the Capital City Stadium.

Come out and enjoy America's favorite pastime on Thursday, May 31st. The game begins at 7:05pm, but gates open at 6:00pm. Arrive early to take advantage of their "Thirsty Thursday" deals: two for $3 Bud & Bud Light cans and $2 16oz Bud Light drafts.

Tickets are $7, but pair up with a friend and bring at least 2 non-perishable food donations to receive a complimentary ticket with the purchase of one regular priced ticket.

Staley Named BCA Female Coach of the Year

Staley Named BCA Female Coach of the Year

University of South Carolina head women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley was named Female Coach of the Year by Black Coaches and Administrators (BCA), the organization announced.

Staley led the Gamecocks to their most successful season since 2001-02 as the team finished with a 25-10 overall record, including a 10-6 mark in SEC action, and earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16.

Staley’s fourth season at the South Carolina helm was a testament to the steady growth of the program and individual players under her tutelage.

Campbell, Fedewa Named To SEC Community Service Team

South Carolina seniors Chris Campbell and Erin Fedewa have been named to the 2012 SEC Track and Field Community Service Team as announced by the league office.

 

The league sponsors a Community Service Team for each of its 20 league-sponsored sports, looking to highlight a male and female athlete from each school who gives back to his community through superior service efforts.

 

Campbell, who was also a nominee for the SEC Brad Davis Community Service Award, has volunteered countless hours of service in Columbia.

Get your car washed & support the troops!

The Courtyard and the Columbia Marriott will host a benefit car wash for the United Service Organizations on May 15 from 11a.m. to 4 p.m.

The charity wash will be held at the Courtyard Marriott Columbia Downtown at USC located at 630 Assembly Street.

USO is a private, nonprofit, non-partisan organization whose mission is to support the troops by providing morale, welfare and recreation-type services.
