Palladium Society's Renovation Rodeo Series Continues May 21

 

The Palladium Society, the young professionals society of Historic Columbia Foundation, continues its Renovation Rodeo tour series on May 21, featuring a home in Shandon.

 

This private tour series is a roundup of old homes in the Columbia area that have been refurbished and renovated while staying true to the roots and history of the house. Attendees get to see the renovation first hand while speaking with the homeowner and contractor who worked on the project.

On May 9th four non-profit organizations in South Carolina that work with lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender populations joined together to participate in the 1st national Give OUT Day for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender  Queer community (LGBTQ).

Letter Carriers' Annual Food Drive Set for May 11

 

The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) will conduct its 21st annual food drive to combat hunger on Saturday, May 11. Letter carriers will collect non-perishable food donations on that day as they deliver mail along their postal routes.

 

It is the nation's largest single-day food drive, and is held annually on the second Saturday in May in 10,000 cities and towns in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Guam.

There’s no better way to show the woman who carried you for nine months how much she is appreciated, than expressing it in a unique way.

Gamecock Equestrian to Host Curing Kids Cancer Event

The University of South Carolina equestrian team and Curing Kids Cancer have teamed up to host a fun-filled day for pediatric cancer patients to enjoy a cowboy cookout at the team’s farm in Blythewood, S.C.

Young cowboys and cowgirls from Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital will come to the One Wood Farm equestrian center on Saturday, April 27 and get a chance to interact with the horses, team members and other patients. This Gamecocks Battle Kids Cancer event will be the first time Curing Kids Cancer and the equestrian team have joined forces.

Ben Barnette Named to SEC Men’s Tennis Community Service Team

South Carolina sophomore Ben Barnette (Spartanburg, S.C./ Spartanburg High) was named to the SEC Men’s Tennis Community Service Team, the league announced. The conference sponsors community service teams in all 21 sports to highlight student-athletes who give back to their community.

 

Barnette has been involved in the Columbia area, participating in tennis clinics at area courts and EdVenture. He took part in the Opening Ceremony at Edlympics and volunteered at Lights on After School.
