USC Pep Rally to feature “Cocky & The Coach” | Community Spirit
On Thursday, October 20, Village at Sandhill will be the place for Steve Spurrier fans and Gamecock faithful as they will be treated to “Cocky & The Coach” featuring Patrick Davis and special guest Blake Mitchell in Town Center Commons and Wild Wing Café beginning at 6:00p.m.
This USC Pep Rally will feature “Cocky” the mascot, as well as gamecock cheerleaders and dance team members. Former USC quarterback Blake Mitchell will also be on hand to sign autographs, courtesy of Schumacher Homes.
Camden native Patrick Davis will give a free concert in Town Center Commons immediately preceding USC Head Football Coach Steve Spurrier’s Radio Show appearance at Wild Wing Café, Village at Sandhill. Singer/songwriter Davis is making his mark on the Nashville music scene.
He co-wrote Jason Michael Carroll’s Top 10 hit, “Where I’m From,” as well as the closing track, “Be Wary of a Woman,” on fellow South Carolinian Darius Rucker’s platinum-level Learn To Live album. In 2011,his songs are being heard on new albums from Lady Antebellum, Jewel (Patrick and Jewel co- wrote 11 of the 12 original songs on the album, and Davis even sang harmony on the closing track, “Count On Me”), Josh Kelley and Carroll (he produced Carroll’s latest release). Davis has also achieved regional and YouTube notoriety for his USC fan anthem, “I’m Just a Big Ole’ (Game) Cock”.
“Village at Sandhill is fast becoming known for its unique events that give back to the community,” said Village at Sandhill General Manager Jeff Harper. “And this will be a fun, free way for South Carolina and Patrick Davis fans to come together and show their Gamecock pride!”
