COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Researchers at the University of South Carolina have a new online tool to help state leaders understand the effect of potential taxes.
University spokeswoman Peggy Binette says researchers from the Darla Moore School of Business are slated to meet Thursday with lawmakers and staff at the Statehouse in Columbia. The meeting is scheduled for 1 p.m. The economists are conducting a demonstration of the online system. It will give government, business and community leaders a way to calculate the impact of taxes and determine revenue in the budget process. The new tool is part of S.C. Dash, an online clearinghouse for economic data that Moore School economists created last year. (Copyright 2013 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.
