McDonald's to give free breakfast to students before PASS test

The 47 McDonald’s restaurants in the greater Columbia metropolitan area will serve students taking the South Carolina Palmetto Assessment of State Standards (PASS) Test with a free breakfast on May 7, 2013.

The free breakfast will include an Egg McMuffin and Apple Slices, with a choice of one percent low fat white Milk or a small Orange Juice.

To redeem the free breakfast, students must present the attached coupon.

The coupon is good from 6 to 7 a.m. in store only.

Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense In America To Hold Rally At The Statehouse

Only eleven weeks after the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America has decided to hold a rally at the SC Statehouse in Columbia on March 2nd at 10:30 a.m.

The peaceful rally will allow parents and other supporters across the state to reach out to SC legislators about demanding more gun regulation in order to prevent gun violence.

Speakers are still not finalized, but will include: A Columbia mother directly impacted by gun violence when her daughter was murdered by a stolen gun; a Lowcountry public school teacher worki

Opening Day for USC Baseball SOLD OUT!

The Gamecock Athletics Ticket Office announced Wednesday afternoon that tickets for Opening Day at Carolina Stadium between USC Baseball and Liberty are sold out. The series begins on Friday, February 15.

Fans may still purchase standing room only tickets for the other games in the series that will take place on Saturday, February 16 and Sunday, February 17.

Winter Fest Brings Family Fun Back to State Museum

It’s the “most wonderful time of the year” as the South Carolina State Museum’s holiday tradition, Winter Fest, kicks off on Saturday, Dec. 15. This celebration of the winter season runs until Sunday, Jan. 1 (with time out for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day) and will feature many highlights and crowd pleasers.

Winter Fest kicks off with a Family Holiday Fiesta on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 2 p.m. Guests will enjoy a hot cocoa bar, cookies, craft and game activities, a goodie-filled piñata—and, of course, a visit from the season’s favorite visitor—Santa Claus!
