Marcus Lattimore will discuss "future plans" at news conference

South Carolina football fans will find out the future plans of running back Marcus Lattimore Wednesday afternoon.

The Gamecocks standout will hold a news conference Wednesday at 4 p.m. to "discuss his future plans", according to a news release from the university.

Lattimore is expected to announce his intentions to declare for the 2013 NFL Draft.

A report from ESPN's Joe Schad said Lattimore decided to turn pro.

Lattimore suffered a season-ending right knee injury during USC's win over Tennessee at Williams-Brice Stadium on Oct. 27. The scene that day will forever be remembered by fans far and wide as players from both teams surrounded the junior when most realized he'd suffer the same fate as he did in 2011.

Schad said Lattimore has consulted with NFL running backs about his decision and understands he may not be able to play in 2013.

During a public birthday celebration on the Horseshoe for Lattimore shortly after the injury, Head Coach Steve Spurrier said the team's all-time leader in touchdowns had a message for his supporters. "Tell them I'll be back," said Spurrier.

After talking to the crowd of hundreds about Lattimore's impact on his own life and the team, Spurrier said he believed his star running back would return to the Gamecocks in 2013. "We're going to get Marcus for four or five years instead of three," said Spurrier.

It appears Lattimore has changed his mind and Gamecock Nation has seen his last appearance in garnet and black.

South Carolina's 2010 "Mr. Football" will finish his NCAA career with 2,677 rushing yards and 41 touchdowns in three seasons.
