Police investigating brawl, shots fired in Five Points | News
COLUMBIA, SC (WIS)- Columbia Police are investigating a brawl and shots fired incident that occurred in Five Points very early Sunday morning.
According to a police department incident report, a patrolling officer around 2 a.m. reported observing a large fight in progress in between The Library Bar and Breakers Bar near Harden Street.
According to the officer, the 15-20 men were fully engaged in a physical altercation when he arrived.
Once the men realized police were there, they began to flee in different directions, the officer stated.
While the subjects were running from the scene, the officer heard 8-10 gunshots from what appeared to be a large caliber pistol, the report stated.
The officer ran toward the gunfire, which he believed to be coming from the Shell Station parking lot, and observed two black males dressed in black running from the area.
Officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the subjects.
The report stated there appeared to be no property damage or injuries from the gunshots.
Police are reviewing security camera footage from the area in hopes they can identify the people involved.
Two men involved in a fight early Saturday morning went to an area hospital because of injuries received in a separate altercation outside The Library Bar, according to a police report. One said he was struck in the head with a beer bottle. The other complained of a dislocated thumb.
