Former teammates share in worry of Kenny Miles | News
COLUMBIA, SC (WIS)- As the mystery surrounding former South Carolina running back Kenny Miles and the shooting that left him wounded, his former teammates are also wondering what happened.
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said Tuesday that Miles was not shot during a robbery attempt.
Lott says Miles gave deputies false information about what led to him being shot in the forearm.
So far, no one has been charged, and Lott says the investigation continues.
Miles wrapped up his USC career last season and remains close to a number of the current players. They too are wondering what's going on with their friend.
"Me and Kenny were real close, so me and him text on a daily basis even though he's not here," said cornerback Victor Hampton. "He's one of those guys where something like this happens, and it's like 'Wow, Kenny Miles? How does that happen to Kenny Miles?' It just makes you grateful and it makes you want to wake up every day and work hard because you never know when a tragedy like that is going to happen."
"He's a great, funny guy," said defensive end Kelcy Quarles. "The sad thing about it is I saw Kenny Saturday on the sidelines and to just think about a nice, loving guy like Kenny that just hurts your feelings. I know God's going to take care of him."
